Chiru, Prajarajajyam about seperate Telangana

Chiranjeevi said Prajarajyam party will support the formation of a separate Telangana state.

Making the much-awaited announcement which is all set to impact the political equations in Andhra Pradesh before the 2009 assembly polls, Chiranjeevi has, however, lobbed the T-ball into the Centre's court. At a gathering in Jagityal on Friday, he said his party won't oppose the formation of separate Telangana if the bill was moved by the Centre. Chiranjeevi said the people of the region were in favour of a separate state. "But it's for the Centre to take a decision and our party won't be an obstacle to its formation," he said amid cheers from the crowd during the second leg of his road show in the Telangana heartland. According to political analysts, Chiranjeevi has chosen Jagityal to make the announcement since it falls under the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency represented by TRS strongman K Chandrasekhar Rao. He said the Telangana region suffered decades of neglect by successive governments.
